On March 19, 2022, the 1st smart expressway in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province - Yuyue Expressway was officially launched. The project is a key project for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and an important part of the Shaoxing Smart traffic network. At the same time, it is also the 1st smart expressway in China that supports highly autonomous driving. It has a complete digital system that can intelligently manage autonomous vehicles.
The expressway has a total length of 20.9 kilometers with a total investment of 6.238 billion RMB. It has five modules including "Building Information Modeling (BIM),Intelligence measure system (IMS), Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Intelilgent Connected Vehicle(ICV), and Intelligent Lighting System(ILS)". The ILS uses the FondaCity, adopted smart city management platform based on public lighting.
With cellular IoT thchnology, the smart lighting system is able to achieve functions such as remote lighting control, dimming, alarm, and report, it can greatly save power resources and maintenance costs, improve public lighting management, and help urban development.
At present, the street has more than 2,500 smart control street lights, 288 high-definition surveillance cameras, 249 electric cameras, 167 millimeter-wave radars, 149 LED display, Intelilgent Connected Vehicle sensors and other equipment. All the data is transmitted to the control system for real-time monitoring on vehicle location, quantity, and speed.
With the smart management of FondaCity, the lights could be adjusted status with vehicle’s movement.If you drive in this expressway, most of the traffic lights would be green. This is aim to save energy for driver and also reduce carbon emission during driving. In addition, the dashboard can also reflect the current weather information, equipment power consumption and real-time alarms, assisting maintenance team, equipment management for more effective repair, mange and ticket dispatching.
